  • REVIEWS
I enjoyed this particular event. The venue choice was very good - lots of subject matter both inside and outside. Emily had sent camera settings information sheet ahead of the session, which was a really helpful idea. On the day Emily helped put these into practice allowing us to not only to start setting these ourselves, but also to experiment in adjusting and exploring these depending on the various light strengths.

I usually walk along this stretch of the Dighty Burn at least once a week. But on this occasion I was actually trying out my new camera and a new lens - Nikon Z6ii Nikkor Z 40mm f2. I usually both shoot landscapes and street photography with an 18-35mm zoom and I wasn't certain that the 40mm would suit my needs for both genres.I think I may have to save some more pennies to get something wider for the landscape work.

When I took this photo by the cliffs I wanted to capture a wide angle to show some of the beauty that Scotland has to offer. I didn't really intend on having myself in the shot but by keeping myself in it. I feel that it creates an element of mystery. I love using the drone to capture different perspectives. To be very honest I am new to photography but I noticed there was a safety car going back and fourth on the bridge reflecting an orange into the calm water. I make these double images by using the multiple exposure mode in the camera menus.I take one image as sharp as possible, then while trying to keep everything in the same place, I manually turn the focus ring till the image is out of focus. Then take the second image. I have the "gain" set on auto and the camera sorts out the exposure.

Taken with Nikon D7500 with 300mm Nikkor lens. Two male Kingfishers possibly adult male and offspring sitting low by the River Crane. Light was low so had to use a high ISO. Because of this the image had to be denoised . It was then cropped and clarity and texture added in Lightroom. I have a nice triptych of them sitting in three different poses.
